Project description
The VISTOP project (“Violence in schools training online project”) - funded by the European Commission - aims at developing and offering online courses for teachers, parents and policy makers and addresses the issue of school bullying and violence through a whole-school approach. The online course is made available in two alternative versions: one moderated online course that will be fully accompanied by a tutor and one self-guided online course that can be completed independently.
There will be three moderated online courses to be held within the project’s lifetime. Each of the online courses will be taught to around 30 participants and amongst others will contain pre-tests that assess the participants’ background and knowledge, clearly pre-defined learning goals, learning materials, recommended readings and comprehensive lists of online resources, moderated online discussions between participants, online assessments of the learning outcome related to each of the modules and individual feedback by the instructor.
Based on principles of self-motivated learning an alternative version of the course will be developed that can be completed independently and in a self-guided way. In this way a broad International audience can profit from the materials as well as the experiences and contributions of fellow participants within the course.
The online courses are derived from materials and other resources that have been developed in the EU-funded VISTA project (“Violence in School Training Action”) and other projects previously funded by the European Commission and will explicitly aim at disseminating information and best practice resulting from these projects.
