As mentioned in the "about our project" section this web site results from two different European projects both funded by the Socrates / Minerva program of the European Commission.
In the first phase of our project, the VISIONARY project (2000-2003), a team of experts from five countries – Germany, Denmark, Finland, Portugal and the UK - created the basic structure of this portal. Apart from this we published the book "Violence Prevention in School Using the Internet" that gives an overview of violence and violence prevention in our five countries with a focus on resources that are available on the Internet.
In the second phase, the VISIONARIES-NET project (2004-2006), we completely revised our portal and extended it by three further languages: French, Spanish and Romanian. Furthermore the four partners of this second phase - Germany, France, Spain and Romania - hold five online conferences that aim to bring together different groups of experts on school bullying and violence from different countries and cultures.
The VISIONARY portal was created by a team of about 20 people from five countries – Germany (project co-ordination), Denmark, Finland, Portugal and the UK – from the following institutes:
Center for Educational Research, University of Koblenz-Landau, Germany
Vordingborg Seminarium, Denmark
Centre for Ethnic Studies, University of Joensuu, Finland
Faculdade de Psicologia e de Ciências da Educação, Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal
Learning Technology Research Institute, University of North London, UK
